Dodital remains swarmed by the devotees from all around the India. It is nature’s treasure house and hence is frequented by fervent nature admirers and adventure enthusiasts as well. The oak, deodar, rhododendron and pine forests around the Dodital Lake are filled with exquisite wilderness. This lake and forests offer a perfect platform for various recreational and adventure activities such as trekking, bird watching, nature walk, angling and boating.
It is an ideal trek for novice trekkers. Passing through Darwa Top, it is a two-day trek to Hanuman Chatti from Dodital. Darwa Top bestows the tourists the spellbinding vistas of majestic Garhwal Himalayas. The trek then incorporates a one-day trail to Yamunotri. Yamunotri is the originating point of holy Yamuna River. It is located at an elevation of about 10800 feet. A trail of around 1,000 meters from Yamunotri takes the tourists to the original source of Yamuna River. The major attraction of Dodital-Yamunotri Trek is the Yamunotri Temple. During this trek, one can also visit Ruinsara Lake. Summer season is the peak time to undertake this sanctified and enthralling trek.
Best time to travel to Dodital Yamunotri Trek is in summers (Mid April – June) and Post Monsoon (September – October).
Summer: The weather of Dodital Yamunotri Trek remains salubrious and pleasing during summers. The Himalayas are distinctly visible and the cool breeze adds charm to the vacation. Carry woolens with you.
Post Monsoon: Serenity and solitude are at its best during post monsoon at Dodital Yamunotri Trek. The region is blessed with snowfall during winters and the accommodation options also remain few. But you can see the best of Dodital Yamunotri Trek during post monsoon as it looks like Heaven on earth.
